Utah Corgis New Additions

A BIG CORGI WELCOME TO ALL THE "NEWCOMERS"!!!

2009 has been a busy year for the Utah Corgis, with many events and trials going on....so many that it has kept the humans too busy to write them all down! But this event was enough to bark about -- the addition of a number of new family members to Utah Corgis homes! So, without further ado, Utah Corgis proudly present the new faces and a little bit of information about each one!

(Oh, and we're presenting them in alphabetical order by call names...we want to keep things informal, right?)

Callie

(owned by Peggy and Jim Newman, co-owned by Sharon Ogden)

Callie (Harrim's Calendar Girl) is a handful! She LOVES to run and loves to play with the "big" dogs. She's a smart little cuss, sometimes too smart for her own good. She's got a mischievous streak in her, likes to steal socks and the occasional shoe when she can get ahold of one, and play "you can't catch me" with it.
Callie has the attitude of "princess in training", and thinks it's all about her. She's going to attract attention in the ring and keep me on my toes all the time! Sharon thinks she should do agility, so that might be in her future too.
Callie's parents are Ch. LS The Red Baron and Ch. Nebriowa Sophiciate. She has a brother and sister who will be showing in Colorado (and surrounding area) and another brother who's a fluffy and in a pet home. She's a classic sable and gets prettier every day (in my not so humble, biased opinion!)
We are very glad to have her and excited to get her started on her show career. Her debut should be in Farmington in the middle of September.

Cisco

(owned by Keith and Suzie Highley)

Cisco is a corgi/heeler (cattle dog) mix and a pound puppy imported from California. Our aim was to bring him home long enough to find a suitable forever home. Pretty straightforward, right? But a funny thing happened....we found ourselves politely refusing adoption offers (three in the first week) for the flimsiest of reasons. With the exception of Wyatt, our fluffy corgi, everyone in the pack seems okay with him. But even Wyatt is showing little signs of acceptance. With his athletic body, heeler drive, and Corgi smarts, agility will probably figure prominently in Cisco's life.

Kes

(owned by Laurie and John Spease)

Triad Kestrel Feather (CH Tallyrand No Greater Love -- CH Triad Feather Flight), breeder Patty Gailey.
We almost didn't get Kes. We originally wanted another male. However, after talking with some friends, we decided that with Trace's temperament and the fact that he's a momma's boy, a girl would be the better fit. We went to visit puppies before we went on vacation in June, and when we got back there was a message from Patty to come and get her! She was 12 weeks old when we brought her home and it's like she's always been here. She is a great corgi ambassador, greeting people on the hiking trail or on the street; learning house manners quickly, and walking well on a leash (we'll see how long that lasts....). She is our next agility/obedience/rally/herding prospect. Maybe in 18 months when I retire we can add tracking, something I've always wanted to do with my corgis.

Princess AJ

(owned by Les Beer)

Princess AJ (Princess Abigail Jordan) loves to herd! She loves to try and herd the cat, dogs at the dog park, Grant's dog Mr. Puddin, and any and everything. She loves to snuggle and give kisses.

Racer and Ryder

(owned by Sharon Ogden)

My new additions!
These are my "honorary" corgis, "Sharlynn What Was I Thinking", aka Racer, and "Sharlynn Enjoy The Ryde", aka Ryder. They were born June 5, 2009. Proud parents are Kenbe N' Shalako Rop'n The Win NA NAJ, aka Roper and Ch. Shalako's Good As It Gets, aka Hayley. They have been a bundle of fun. I am looking forward to one of these boys being my future performance "buddy"!

Welcome to all the new faces -- we hope to be seeing you in the show ring, rally ring, herding fields, and agility courses soon!!

Walk me back to Utah Corgis home!
